Have you ever been given a label by someone that has caused you intense distress?
We are so much more than a label ... we are mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, hairdressers, nurses, happy, funny.....of course the list is endless....
You don't have to identify as a label that someone else has given you especially if it is unhelpful or just plain mean.
So if you would like to challenge and change a label - Find a pen and paper
Write down positive things that you identify with such as being trustworthy, kind ... etc and write down the reasons why you are so much more than that one label.
You don't have to accept a label - If it feels wrong - challenge it, change it!
I have just returned from my Tai Chi class and during our closing meditation three of the sentences which are spoken are:
I am Bliss
I am Peace
I am Contentment
These words resonate with me on quite a deep level - they will be different for everyone as we will all put a slightly different meaning to them. I find these words give me a feeling of calmness which can last for a good few hours.
Here is a little exercise for you to try ….
Think of a word or short phrase that makes you feel calm and relaxed.
Find somewhere comfortable to sit and allow your eyes to gently close, take in a few deep breaths as the muscles of your body relax. And then allow your breathing to settle into it's natural rhythm.
Start to repeat your phrase or word to yourself either silently or aloud and continue to do this for 5 - 10 minutes. If something else pops into your head acknowledge it and allow it to drift on through like a cloud and then return to repeating your word/phrase. When your time is up open your eyes and notice how you feel.
If you find this a nice exercise to do then practice it for a week and see if you notice any changes in your mood.
And if you are really keen you can start to extend it to 10 -20 minutes!
Struggling with stress? Hypnotherapy can be a useful way of helping to lower your stress levels - if you would like an appointment you can book below ...
I just heard someone saying that if you make an NG sound (like a hum) it can help you to relieve Tinnitus. It has peaked my interest today so here is a bit of collected information.
There are some specific Hypnotherapy Downloads for Tinnitus - I don't have a specific recording but I do have a general relaxation recording try it and see if it helps!
If any of these help I would love to know

This is my first News Letter – and it may be my one and only J
April was The ‘Women on Fire’ Conference in Brighton with lots of interesting speakers over 2 days and extra day training in Hypopressive techniques. This was a very interesting conference with trainers from USA, Spain & Australia as well as our own fabulous UK trainers – teaching the latest techniques and research from the exercise, physio and nutritional worlds.
I am poking up my head in the far right corner!

May was a month of exams (acupuncture), visiting the Chelsea Flower Show for the first time, Holidaying on the West Coast of Scotland for a week in a campervan (and having exceptionally warm weather).
Now it’s back to reality and I’m on a mission – and gearing up for some serious work time.
I am still offering a few places to anyone who would like to be a case study for acupuncture – so if you would like to try 4 sessions of acupuncture free of charge – get in touch.
I am off to Brighton this month to add to my abdominal/sacral massage skills by adding Mizan Pre and postnatal massage
Saturday 7th July @ 11am is Bristol Fertility Support Group – if you are struggling with fertility issues come along and talk to others who are walking a similar path.
I am also updating some of Pilates training with courses on Scoliosis and Back Pain with APPI – and hopefully will be introducing some weighted ball workouts soon.
Abdominal/womb massage is as popular as ever - it’s a lovely massage which focuses on part of the body that is often ignored in massage – I also treat scar tissue.
